Charles River Branch Rail Road Company. Charted by Otis Pettee in 1849 to connect to Boston and Worcester Railroad to Dover and eventually to New York. Opened for service in 1852 between Boston to Newton Upper Falls. Absorbed by the Charles River Railroad in 1853 which was in turn aquired by the New York and Boston Rail-Road Company in 1855.
