First National Bank of New Bedford. Originally incorporated in 1832 as "The Marine Bank of New Bedford", it joined the national system in 1864 and reorganized as the "First National Bank of New Bedford" at that time. It survived until 1972 when it was acquired by Shawmut.
Stock. Issued in 1864. #68. Signed by Joseph Grinnell as President. Ginnell was a local businessman involved in banking and Railroads. He also served a number of terms in Congress.
