Pittsfield Iron and Steel Company. Reincorporated in Massachusetts in 1881 when the original company, incorporated in Connecticut in 1880, failed. Organized for the purpose of manufacturing iron from mines found in Chittenden VT, this foundry was located on Chittenden/Pittsfield line. The company was run from Boston by William G. Bell. In 1884, the company was renamed "Tweed River Company".
