Fishkill Mountain Turnpike Company. The Fishkill Mountain Turnpike Company was authorized by Act passed in 1817, to run from the corner of the road near the house of Jonathan Squires, of the town of Patterson, Putnam County ; thence westerly crossing the Philipstown turnpike near the house of Hezekiali Pecks, and thence to the house of Jacob I. Adreance, of the town of Fishkill, Dutchess County. In 1820, the road was authorized to erect 1 full tollgate (or 2 half tollgates) and begin collecting tolls.
