The Beacon Falls Rubber Shoe Company. Original a Connecticut company, established in 1898. They produced rubber shoes under the national known name of "Top Notch". As the company grew, offices where opened in Boston, New York, and San Francisco, with Boston becoming company headquarters. In 1915, the company incorporated in Massachusetts. Production remained in Connecticut. In fact, that same year management hired the "Olmstead Brothers" (sons of the famous park designer) to design a town for the workers of plant. The plant was located in the city hall area of Beacon Falls.
